About Line View
Introduction
Line View is software tool intended for
teaching the theory of overhead power line design. The software is simple to
use and follows the traditional rulling span approach to line design.
Software philosophy
The philosophy of this software is
simplicity. The tool only models bottom catenary in one rulling section. The
original objective was to transfer the traditional line design method, of paper
sag curves and profiles, and replicate that process in a computer environment.
Future developments
Future developments of this software
shall consider the objective of simplicity. Adding too many features simply
makes this tool less effective as an instructional aid.
Some proposed developments are:
1. Land feature identification
2. 3D version (under construction)
3. Lunix version

Installation instructions
Installation of Line View is simple:
1. Unzip the software to a directory of
your choice,
2. Double click on the LineView1.exe
file to open the program and
3. Read the Tutorial to get started
